IRS Releases Seventh Security Tip

Original release date: January 04, 2016

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has released the seventh in a series of tips intended to help the public protect personal and financial data online and at home. A new tip will be available each Monday through the start of the tax season in January. This tip describes methods users can follow to protect their information on the Internet. Recommendations include the exclusive use of encrypted websites to transfer sensitive information, prevention of oversharing on social media, and password protection.

US-CERT encourages users and administrators to review the IRS Security Awareness Tax Tip Number 7 and the US-CERT Security Tip Preventing and Responding to Identity Theft for additional information.
